The Inquisition

Put It On The Record.

The Hall of Records grows because somebody decides a name, place, story, achievement, case or piece of cultural memory deserves to be kept where others can find it.

You do not need to arrive with a finished article. Bring us the trail. Tell us what deserves attention, why it belongs in the Hall and where the record can begin.

THE WORK OF RECORD KEEPING
What is remembered can be examined. What is documented can be returned to. What is organized can still be found years from now.
WHAT CAN BE SUBMITTED?

The Hall Is Bigger Than One Kind Of Record.

If it helps preserve Black memory, document Black life or make important information easier to find, there may be a place for it in the Hall.

01

People & Achievement

Innovators, artists, thinkers, builders, community leaders and people whose work deserves a stronger place in the public record.

02

Cases & Accountability

Missing persons, disputed deaths, unresolved cases, investigations and records where documentation should remain accessible.

03

Places & Events

Black towns, neighborhoods, migrations, historical events, institutions and sites carrying cultural memory.

04

Culture & Tradition

Music, art, spirituality, oral history, gatherings, rituals, traditions and the ways culture moves between generations.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

Give Us Something We Can Follow.

You do not have to know everything. You do need to give the Hall enough information to understand what you are pointing toward.

I.

Name The Record.

Tell us who, what or where the submission is about. Include names, dates, locations and identifying details when they are relevant and publicly appropriate.

II.

Tell Us Why It Matters.

Explain why this belongs in the Hall. What would be lost, misunderstood or harder to find if nobody preserved the record?

III.

Leave A Trail.

Whenever possible, include reporting, public documents, official statements, archival material, interviews or other sources that another person can review.

IV.

Separate Fact From Claim.

If something is alleged, disputed, believed, reported or still unanswered, say so. The record gets stronger when uncertainty is documented rather than hidden.

THE INTAKE LEDGER

Submit The Record.

Give us what you have. The Hall can begin with a name, an event, a question, a source or a story worth following.

You are submitting for review. Submission does not guarantee publication. Records may be researched, edited, sourced, categorized or returned for clarification first.

THE ARCHIVAL STANDARD

The Hall Documents. It Does Not Invent.

Submitted information may be reviewed, reorganized, edited for clarity, sourced and categorized before appearing publicly.

Publication does not mean every claim inside a record has been independently established. Where accounts conflict, the Hall should identify who made each claim and distinguish reporting, allegation, official account and documented fact.

The goal is not to force uncertainty into certainty. The goal is to preserve the record clearly enough that another person can understand what is known, what is claimed and what remains unanswered.

PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT

Protect The Living While Preserving The Record.

Do not submit private home addresses, Social Security numbers, passwords, private financial information, unnecessary medical information or other sensitive personal data that does not belong in a public archive.

A RECORD IS A RESPONSIBILITY

Not Everything Submitted Will Be Published.

Some records may need more sourcing. Some may need clarification. Some may already exist in the Hall. And some may not meet the archival standard.

But if something deserves to be remembered, this is where the conversation begins.
