Black Girls Code Code Along Season 5 | Building Black Girls Into the Future of AI

Hall of Records · Chamber of Knowledge
Black Girls Code’s 2026 Code Along season moves young Black learners from playing with technology to building games, training AI models and thinking about ownership in the digital economy.
Record Overview
Black Girls Code launched Season 5 of its free Code Along video academy in June 2026 with a direct premise: young Black learners should not only use technology—they should understand and build it.
AI Literacy
The 2026 curriculum introduces gaming, creative coding and artificial-intelligence foundations. Learners encounter machine learning, neural networks, algorithms and prompt engineering, then move beyond consumption by training models and examining why their perspective matters in technologies used by everyone.
Ownership
The season also connects technical skill with economic ownership. Participants build websites, work with JavaScript and hear from business leaders about money, leadership and career-building. The curriculum frames technical literacy as part of a broader future in which Black youth can shape products, companies and systems.
Why This Record Matters
Black Futures is not only speculative fiction. It also includes pipelines that determine who will design tomorrow’s technologies. Black Girls Code is building that pipeline through education, mentorship and access.
